Sept 11 Thursday. Versailles

Another long day of sightseeing. 10 miles of walking. It's a huge palace with 3 square miles of gardens and two smaller chateaus.
Hall of mirrors below.

See how small the palace looks behind Doug? That's because it's a long walk away through gardens.
We are tired and ready to come home.

Wednesday, September 10

First visited the Orangerie to see the Monet's and other impressionist art.
Then, off the Pompidou for modern art such as Georgia O'Keefe
And this Foujita 1949. I had a print of this one in college.
This just outside the Pompidou
Then we were off to the cementary where. Jim Morrison is buried and also visited the graves of Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein, Alice B Tokllas, Edith Piaf, and Molliere
For some reason, people leave wads of gum on the tree next to Morrison's grave.

Tuesday. September 9.

Climbed the tower of Notre Dame early.
You can see everything from up there.
Then,  snack, and off to the Rodin Museum and gardens.
A stop to see Napoleon's tomb
And then a walk with more food at an outdoor cafe on Rue Cler, where Rick Steve stays when he is here (lots of nice shops).  After a nap, we went on to visit the Eiffel Tower and cruise the Seine.  It's a full moon.
View from Eiffel Tower
View of the Louvre from the boat
Tower lights up for 5 minutes every hour
We are really tired. Walked 11 or 12 miles today.
This is Doug's dinner. My chicken and roast potatoes didn't look like much but tasted great!

Monday. Sept 8. Paris apartment

We are now in our little apartment.
Lunch at "home."
We suspect the owner is gay, in part because we found this hanging in the bathroom closet.

Walked around the Marais neighborhood
Now we are looking for dinner close by because we are pooped.
